Roads less Traveled
This poem is probably my most favorite out of every poem in the book especially this passage of it. It speaks to me because of the life that I have lived, and also that of my daughter. I experienced different road bumps as a child and young adult than she did, yet we both took the road less traveled. To me that means even though it's not popular and what everyone else is doing, it does pay off to be yourself, to go down your own road even though it's not the most common and may not make you popular but it's okay to stand out. I do believe that we should choose our own path in life and not let anyone else choose for us and when everyone is going down the other road no one knows what excitement and adventures are down the other road, and wouldn't it be exciting to find out.

Usually we stick to a single road in our lives and we never want to turn back let along deviate from that road, yet there are times when we do. This poem kind of reminds me of a song from Linkin Park called "Roads Untraveled", although you can substitute the word "untraveled" phrase "less traveled" pretty easily. Altering the first verse of the song makes it kind of fit with the poem.
ReplyDeleteWeep not for roads less travled
Weep not for paths that aren't shown
'Cause beyond every bend
Is a long blinding end
It's the worst kind of pain
I've known
I agree with your post. It is important to follow your own path, make your own mistakes and take risks that you're uncomfortable with that you know would be for the better. I admit I can get a little lost, but I feel I will eventually find my path. Thank you for sharing this poem!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Frost. This poem is one of my favorites, along with Mending Wall and Stopping by Woods. People who blindly follow the crowd frustrate me. Even if the path chosen is not the right one for you, you can always create a new trail!
